Plyfolio or a paper scoresheet?
Paper is allowed everywhere and never runs out of battery. Plyfolio keeps every game. Use both.
Fair, factual and dated: 4 November 2026.
Where paper wins.
It is allowed at every event, it is usually the official record, it never needs a charger, and nobody wonders what else is on the screen. For most congresses and many leagues, paper at the board is the rule, and that is fine.
Where Plyfolio helps.
Afterwards. A paper sheet goes in a coat pocket and is gone by Christmas. In Plyfolio the game is filed with the opponent, the place and the result, readable and searchable for good, and ready to review.
Using both.
Write on paper at the board, then type the game in between rounds or on the way home. The keypad follows the order you write a move in, so copying a sheet takes a few minutes, and illegal moves you wrote in a hurry are caught.
The printable sheet.
A free Plyfolio scoresheet, A4 or A5, laid out like the app: one numbered line per move pair, a darker rule every five moves, ratings beside each name. Easier to write, and quicker to type up.
