About

For the love of the game.

Plyfolio began at a club table, with a new notation book and a lot of crossed-out moves.

  1. 1.

    A first club night.

In 2026, Plyfolio's maker walked into a chess club for the first time. A board, a clock, an opponent, and one rule they had not expected: write every move down.

  2. 2.

    A notation book.

They were handed a notation book. Numbered lines, a column for White and a column for Black. It looked simple.

  3. 3.

    Then the clock was running.

A move in the wrong column. A capture written as a quiet move. A check left off. A page that made no sense the next morning, and no way to play the game back.

  4. 4.

    So they made a scoresheet.

Big keys for piece, file and rank. A keypad that knows the rules, so a mistyped move cannot go in. Nothing that helps you play, because that is not what a scoresheet is for.

  5. 5.

    After the game.

The best part of club night is often afterwards, when players gather round a board and go back over what happened. A game recorded in Plyfolio is ready the second it ends. Scanning a paper scoresheet straight in is coming later, once it works well on real phones.

  6. 6.

For the love of the game.

No account, no subscription, no adverts. One price, made with care, by a club player for club players.

    Why we built Plyfolio

Why Plyfolio.

ply
Half a move in chess: one player's turn. 1. e4 is one ply, and 1... e5 is the next.
folio
A leaf of a book, and the book made of those leaves: the notation book, with every game gathered in one place.

Plyfolio: every half move, written down and kept.

How we work.

One payment
Plyfolio costs £9.99 once. We would rather make something worth buying than something you have to keep paying for.
Nothing collected
No account and no tracking. Your games are yours, on your phone and in your own cloud.
Honest about features
If it does not work well on real phones yet, it says "coming later", and we keep to that.
Fair at the board
Notation only while you play. We never claim approval we do not have.
Made with care
Calm type, a ribbon that marks your place, pieces that glide. Small things done properly.
