The app
- Screen readers. VoiceOver and TalkBack read every control. Moves are spoken in words, such as "knight f3" and "pawn takes d5", not letters.
- Text size. Text follows your phone's text size setting. The recorded move shrinks only when it would not fit.
- Touch targets. At least 44 points; notation keys at least 48.
- Colour. Results always use words as well as colour; nothing relies on colour alone. Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1.
- Motion. With reduced motion on, page turns and book motion become cross-fades or nothing.
- Haptics and sound. Never the only signal, and each can be turned off in Settings.
- Switch control and keyboards. Every action can be reached in order.
This website
The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA: headings in order, alternative text that describes each screenshot, keyboard access to everything, visible focus, and no motion for anyone who has asked for less. The square reveals and wipes are switched off by the reduced motion setting. The cookie banner can be used with a keyboard and a screen reader, and does not block the page.
Known problems
- The study board in the app is visual; moves are listed and spoken, but describing a whole position aloud is still being designed.
- Some older PDFs on the site (scoresheets, the club poster) are not yet tagged for screen readers.
