Starting a game
In the Record tab, choose New game. Pick your opponent and which colour you have. The place, event and time control are optional and can be added afterwards.
Entering moves
Tap Enter move. The keypad has the pieces K, Q, R, B and N, files a to h, ranks 1 to 8, and x, +, #, both castlings and promotion. Type the move as you would write it, such as Nf3 or exd5, and tap Add move.
Accurate entry helps as you type: keys that cannot make a legal move dim, and x, + and # are completed. With Strict entry on (Settings, Recording) every key stays live and a move that is not legal is flagged after you add it, keeping what you typed.
Correcting a move
Tap Undo for the last move. For an earlier move, tap it in the list and choose Correct move. Later moves are checked again, and any that no longer fit are shown.
Leaving a gap
Missed a move? Choose Missed a move and carry on from where the game is now. The gap is marked; fill it in after the game.
If the app closes
Every move is saved as you add it. Open Plyfolio and it offers to carry on from the last move, showing when recording stopped.
Finishing
Choose Finish, then how the game ended. Confirm the result, then Save, or Save and review. A game that did not finish can be saved as unfinished; it is left out of your results.
